Seems I have neglected my site a bit. Right now I come back and will try to manage things better than before. The Forum is no opened, so is the Download section. There is still not much stuff on the site, I am now focused on proper maps and coordinates, which appear to become the foundation I am building this page. Well, I hope it is a right direction to start with (again)...
I have spent another weekend working on this site. Some new locations were added along with a timeline of prehistory, taken from Wikipedia.
Focused on world's famous excavation sites, I almost forgot about local, Polish contribution to megalithic madness... Here in Poland you may also find stone age structures near Węsiory and Odry, small villages located north of the country. Now this oversight has been fixed. I am still reading a lot, making notes and trying to add more exciting places to this site. But I realize that making this just another database will not satisfy anyone, so next week I am going to fill it with good, "Däniken-like" content, probably enriched with pictures, maybe diagrams and some media files. I think next week will finally be a time to make the site public, so I am going to spread the news among all my friends and insert the link to it in many places on the net. The forum will also be opened for everyone and I hope to make my site "alive and kicking" :) Since this site is just my hobby I can work over it only on weekends and my spare evenings only. I am reading a lot recently in order to fill it with reliable content. Finding spots' coordinates is not an easy task, but as for now, its being done. As you probably noticed there are only a few spots mentioned. That's because the page is still under construction and all you see within it is just a sketch, a draft version published only to give people the idea what's this all about.
I still have not decided how to manage all mentioned places. A division by continents is done temporarily, but I realize that there must be some kind of subdivisions, or should I reorganize it from the beginning. Perhaps some of you may have an idea how it should be done, do not hesitate to share it with me. I did not realize how complicated and time-consuming a site development could be. Being self-taught person as far as page development is concerned it takes me a lot of time to make things as I intended them to be. Collecting data is another issue I have to deal with. Being a perfectionist is not easy at all. I have noticed that embedded Google maps show less precise locations then on Google Maps site. I have no solution for that problem so far. But anyway, there is a kind of progress in building this site. Many elements are almost ready to be inserted and published, the matter is to build them all together.
Well.. I have decided to establish Ancient Times and Places web site. First step is made then. My goal is to fill the site with reliable information. All in one place. After that I am going to open a discussion forum - a place everyone can share ideas about our remote past. Let's make this site alive and rich with brilliant thoughts.
